Wrestling falls at F&M

LANCASTER, Pa. – Davidson wrestling opened the new year with a dual at Franklin and Marshall, falling to the Diplomats Friday afternoon at the Alumni Sports and Athletic Center, 35-4.
Freshman Kyle Gorant was the lone Wildcat to get his hand raised, earning a major decision over F&M's Michael Simonetti. Gorant picked up a pair of takedowns each in the second and third period to edge it out to a major decision.
Five Wildcats lost in close decisions including Mitchell Trigg's sudden victory loss, 3-1. Trigg and Antonio Pelusi each only earned one escape apiece heading into the overtime frame where Pelusi earned the bouts first takedown and the victory.
Davidson returns to the mats tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 5 at the David H. Lehman F&M Open back in Lancaster. Competition begins at 9 a.m. inside the Alumni Sports and Fitness Center.
