
Hostetler's 200m, DMR Victories Highlight Wake Forest Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –The Davidson men's track and field team opened 2019 Saturday at the Wake Forest Invitational at JDL Fast Track.
The Wildcat Distance Medley Relay team of Dylan Carmack, Bryce Kalsu, Max Higgins and Josef Raphael Oettl raced the baton around the track to a first-place finish, stopping the clock in 10:25.81.
Also recording a first-place result was senior Jacob Hostetler in the 200-meter dash. Hostetler stopped the clock in 22.60 seconds, out-leaning Matthew DiFrancesco of Belmont Abbey (22.61).
Junior Stockton McGuire cleared 4.40-meters (14'5.25) on his final attempt at the height to place second overall.
Three 'Cats broke 2:00 in the half mile led by Oettl. Oettl was the second collegiate runner to cross the line, coming home in 1:57.32. Sophomore Drake Taylor (1:59.38), while freshman Eli Minsky (1:59.98) was seventh.
Freshman Cory Gaither placed sixth overall in the 60-meter hurdles, stopping the clock in 8.41 seconds. Senior Sean Caveney was the first competitor left out of the finals, placing ninth with a time of 8.64 seconds.
The Wildcats placed two in the top eight of the 3,000 meters led by freshman Nico Agosta. The Harvard, Mass., native stopped the clock in 8:56.12. Sophomore Jake Carver was next in seventh (8:59.49). Carmack recorded a sixth-place result in the mile with a time of 4:29.05.
Sophomore Miles Hollimon made the finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.01. Classmate Langston Stephens place seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 12.34-meters (40'6), his only marked attempt of the day.
Davidson returns to the track Saturday, Jan. 26 for the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va.
