BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Bastien Oberli's 14th minute penalty kick held as Campbell edged Davidson, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action Saturday evening at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
The setback drops the Wildcats to 2-2-0 on the 2018 campaign, while the Camels improve to 3-2-0.

Comments from Head Coach Matt Spear
Campbell proved to be a tough, physical test. They play very direct and that style tested our ability in the air. That is how they created the goal with another long ball forward. We were not quite in the right spot to earn the second ball, thus the foul.
Campbell had scored 12 goals against their previous two opponents - for the most part our back line that included three freshmen held firm. Stefane Zemmali in his first college start was up for the call.
It's on the attacking side that we did not create enough flow. We adjusted at halftime and were thus able to get more possession in the second half. Our set pieces needed to be sharper as did our quality in the box.
But it's a really good test for our guys and we will improve from the experience of playing a physical, direct team on the road. We will see some of that in October A-10
Conference play.
We move on quick and the focus shifts to the opportunity to play at home vs. Carolina on Tuesday. The student body and fans can give us a lift. Come on out!
