THE SERIES
The Wildcats defeated Brevard in the 2017 season opener in the only meeting between the two Tar Heel State school's.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Four different Wildcats scored touchdowns as Davidson downed Brevard, 30-7. Wesley Dugger posted the best rushing debut in program history, churning out 198 yards on 31 carries and a TD. Tyler Phelps connected with Pat Tabor for a 56-yard touchdown on his only pass attempt of the game.
#TRENDINGNOW
Wesley Dugger became the sixth running back in program history to gain 1,000 yards in a single season on the ground in 2017. He was also the first 'Cat to break 1,000 since John Leverett in 2004. Dugger looks to run behind the same offensive line as last season with all five starters returning.
2018 OUTLOOK
Davidson looks to improve from their second consecutive 2-9 season in 2017. Dugger is the only returning All-PFL performer from the 2017 campaign. His 1,131 rushing yards ranked second all-time in single season history. He also contributed eight touchdowns in his breakout season.
On defense Davidson returns the top three tackles, led by junior linebacker George Hatalowich (73). Junior defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Martin (56) and Stephen Shank (47) rounded out the top three returning.
Junior Will Wicks returns after a breakout sophomore season. The slot receiver ranked ninth in NCAA FCS in all-purpose yards (1,516) including 704 receiving yards and 696 kick return yards.
