DAVIDSON, N.C. – For the second consecutive season, Davidson swimming's Riley League has been named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 3 At Large squad, announced Saturday morning by the organization.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field/course and in the classroom.First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
League boasts the top GPA in the entire conference for the second-straight year, double majoring in economics and philosophy. He was a finalist in all three individual events at the 2018 A-10 Championships and set a new program record in the 100 breast (55.12). The Rock Hill, S.C., product has served as a two-year captain and ranks second in school history in the 200 fly and third in the 200 IM.
League is a Bryan Scholar and also devotes time as a research fellow at the Vann Center for Economics and as a teaching assistant in the Davidson Economics Department. He was also recently named the 2018 Thomas D. Sparrow award winner, given to the top Davidson male athlete focusing on academics, leadership, and athletic success.
The at large category includes student athletes from ice hockey, tennis, golf, lacrosse, fencing, water polo, rifle, men's volleyball, wrestling, and of course, swimming and diving. District 3 consists of colleges and universities from North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. League joins classmate Nathan Tenpas of Davidson Golf and is one of three swimmers selected.
