Women's Track and Field Opens Day 1 of Duke Invite

DURHAM, N.C. – The Davidson women's track and field team opened day one of the Duke Invitational Friday at Morris Williams Track and Field Stadium.
Maddie Hunter competed hard in the 1500-meters, stopping the clock in 4:28.11, good for 12th overall. Sophia Mills narrowly broke her personal best time in the event, turning in a time of 4:33.49, just under a second faster than her previous best result.
Tori Long posted her fastest 400m run of the season, racing the lap around the track in 57.72 seconds.
Susannah Cate got things going with an eighth place finish in the 5k. The Columbia, S.C., native stopped the clock in 17:57.28. Finishing just outside of eighth was vaulter Stephanie Hautamaa. Hautamaa cleared 3.30m (10'10), good for ninth.
Davidson returns to the track Saturday, Apr. 22 for the final day of the Duke Invitational.
