
Sears Paces Women's T&F on day one of Charlotte Invite

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sarah Sears placed fourth overall with an impressive 1500-meter run to highlight Davidson women's track and field at the opening day of the Charlotte Invitational Friday at Irwin Belk Track.
Sears, a senior from Arlington, Va., crossed the line in fourth overall, but was the third fastest collegian at the invite, stopping the clock in 4:24.86. Freshman Maddie Hunter and junior Sophia Mills placed 10th and 11th overall in 4:32.50 and 4:34.64, respectively. Junior Caroline Yarbrough was not far behind, stopping the clock in 4:37.30, with senior Sierra Ponthier in 4:42.14.
Carly Peters continued her consistent sophomore season in the javelin, marking a throw of 43.58m (143'0) to place second. Classmate Makayla Binter launched a new personal best throw and jumped into the program's top 10 all-time performers with a mark of 27.99m (91'10).
Freshman Eleni Daughters took fifth in the 800m (2:14.61), while junior Claire Nieusma took seventh (2:17.39).
Davidson returns Saturday, Apr. 14 for the final day of the Charlotte Invitational.
