NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Davidson women's track and field team officially wrapped up their stellar 2017-18 indoor campaign with the naming of Sarah Sears and Caroline Yarbrough to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team, announced by the league Monday.
For both Sears and Yarbrough, it marks the second All-Academic distinction for the pair each. Sears earned her first after the 2017 cross country season, while Yarbrough was named to the indoor team in 2017.
Sears, a Latin-American Studies major, won a pair of A-10 titles, claiming the 5k crown on the opening day of competition and cruising to a victory in the mile on day two, to go along with a fourth place finish in the 3k. For her efforts, Sears was named the women's Performer of the Meet.
A native of Arlington, Va., Sears broke three indoor program records in dominant fashion, resetting the mile (4:47.44), 3k (9:20.92) and finally the 5k record (16:28.31) at the A-10 Championship.
Yarbrough posted a pair of All-Conference finishes at the indoor championship, claiming second in both the 5k and 3k. The art and history major posted new personal best times in the 5k (16:31.75) and the 3k (9:45.38) over the course of her junior indoor season.
Sears and Yarbrough combined to score 41 of the team's 69.5 points at A-10's, the most points for a Wildcat squad in an indoor championship all-time.
