DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson baseball (7-2) had their five-game win streak snapped Friday, suffering a 4-1 loss to Lehigh (3-5) at Wilson Field.
Junior Max Bazin continued with his hot bat, tallying three hits and scoring the 'Cats lone run.
The Mountain Hawks attacked first, using a leadoff triple and a single to left center to plate the first run of the game in the second.
Davidson tied the contest in the bottom of the third, after Bazin led off the inning with a single to center, advanced to second on a Lehigh miscue, and then took third on a sacrifice bunt from senior Alec Acosta. Sophomore Brett Centracchio then brought him home via a sac fly.
Lehigh took the lead in the fifth, using a walk and Wildcats' fielding error. They added insurance in the sixth by way of back-to-back doubles.
Davidson threatened in the seventh, after sophomore Ward Coleman led off the frame with a walk. He advanced to second on a single from Bazin, and took third on a fielder's choice. Senior Cam Johnson, who reached earlier via error, moved to second on a wild pitch, and Acosta took a five-pitch walk to load the bases. All three were stranded.
Despite suffering the loss, junior Allen Barry struck out seven in six innings, while freshman Pete Bloomberg continued to impress, tossing two shutout frames while fanning two.
The 'Cats look to seek revenge Saturday, slated for a 2:00 p.m. first pitch.
