DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson men's 4x100-meter relay team set a new program record on the final day of the Charlotte 49er Classic Saturday at Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.
The relay squad featuring Miles Hollimon, Jacob Hostetler, William Wicks and George Williams raced the baton around the track in 42.07 seconds, .05 seconds faster than the previous mark set at the 2010 Southern Conference Championship.
Hostetler went on to post the fastest 200m time in program history, but was aided by a slight tailwind, crossing the line in 21.59 seconds. Hollimon, in his first outdoor season for Davidson, set a new personal best with a time of 21.95.
"Despite the 4x100 being a work in progress with some shaky transitions, it was a very good start to the season. The 200 was also a great sign of things to come as Jacob Hostetler and Miles Hollimon both ran personal bests," said head coach Renny Waldron.
On Friday, freshman Taylor Drake stopped the clock in 4:07.08 in his first collegiate 1500m run.
"We are looking forward to next week and competing against some great teams at Wake Forest."
Davidson returns to the track Saturday, March 24 at the Wake Forest Opener.
