Homestand Starts Sunday, 'Cats Battle Bears on Lax Field

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A three-game homestand starts Sunday for the Davidson women's lacrosse team as they will play Mercer Sunday on the lacrosse field inside Richardson Stadium.
The Opening Draw Control...
Davidson (2-1, 0-0 A-10) welcomes Mercer (0-3) for the start of a three-game homestand on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Wildcats won their home opener last Thursday vs. Winthrop to improve to 10-15 all-time in home openers. In addition to playing the Bears, the 'Cats will also play Colgate and Iona during the homestand.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
This is the first time both program's will be playing each other. Mercer started its women's lacrosse program in 2015.

Goalie Rose Woolson is slowing climbing into the Wildcats' record books. She moved into seventh in saves entering the season, sitting at 280. She is also in the top-eight in minutes and her current goals against average is third all-time (10.57). Last year she set the program's single season record in groundballs with 67, while her saves total (165) was sixth best.
Weekly Awards...
Feb. 27: Senior goalie Rose Woolson collected Davidson's first Atlantic 10 women's lacrosse weekly award this year when she was tabbed co-defender of the week. Woolson, who shared the award with Saint Joseph's Bridget Cerciello, won her fifth career defensive player of the week honor. She finished the week with 28 saves, six groundballs, two caused turnovers and an 8.50 goals against average between the pipes. The senior from Baltimore, Md., had a stellar week during games against Winthrop and William & Mary. Woolson started the week off by holding the Eagles to five goals and coming up with a 14-save outing to earn the win. She added a season-high four groundballs and caused one turnover. Woolson capped the week off with another 14 saves at William & Mary, helping keep the Wildcats within striking distance before they fell 12-9. She added another two groundballs and forced a turnover.
Last Time Out...
DAVIDSON — Despite another three-goal outing from Shannon Blee and three more points from Christine Molinari, Davidson dropped its first game of the season with a 12-9 setback at William & Mary. Twice the Wildcats got within two goals in the second half at 9-7 and 11-9, only to see the Tribe counter each time, including the final goal with 8:16 left. Davidson was held to just one more shot attempt in the closing eight minutes.
For the third straight game, Blee matched her career high with three goals, while Molinari pushed her season total to a team-best 14 points after a goal and two assists. Shayne Antolini registered her team-leading ninth assist, while Tess Reiman, Sophia Sgroi, Sarah Kopp, Jordan Wood and Katie Woodruff tallied a goal each.
Rose Woolson took the defeat in goal for Davidson, recording a season-high tying 14 saves for the second game in a row, to go with twogroundballs and a caused turnover.
Last Time Out..
MERCER — The Bears, which play at Gardner-Webb Friday, dropped an 18-8 decision at California, Feb. 18. The Bears outgained California in saves, 6-4, while Kate Leone and Sami Van Slyke led the team with two goals apiece.
Mercer started with a four-goal deficit after Cal jumped out to an early lead within the first 11 minutes. Michaela Lucas recorded a career-high five draw controls, which led the team.
Iseabal Cryne and Michelle Holmes split time in goal, totaling six saves combined.
