SCOUTING THE MOUNTAIN HAWKS
Lehigh enters the weekend with two wins, one of which coming against NC A&T. Senior shortstop James Bleming leads the squad, posting a .407 average and 11 hits. Junior Thomas Schumacher also threatens at the plate, hitting at a .389 clip and a team-high .500 slugging.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is just 2-4 all-time against the Mountain Hawks. The 'Cats last faced Lehigh a year ago in a single-game, where they won 7-4. In that game, now-junior Justin Lebek went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI. Classmate Max Bazin also scored and drove in a run.
LAST TIME OUT
The 'Cats registered their third straight double-digit runs affair, downing the Aggies of NC A&T 12-3. Bazin posted three hits and drove in two while five other Wildcats tallied two hits each. Four separate players each scored twice, and sophomore Matt Frey joined the rapidly growing "Bomb Squad", launching a pinch-hit two-run shot in the ninth inning. Reigning Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week Connor Gordon improved to 2-1 on the season, recording a new career-best five strikeouts.
LAST WEEK AT WILSON FIELD
Davidson swept visiting Georgetown last weekend, outscoring the Hoyas 35-12. In Saturday's 16-5 victory, the 'Cats set a new single-game record with seven homers. Lebek collected two round trippers, while five other 'Cats contributed to the bashing. The record was officially broken when sophomore Alex Fedje-Johnson, also in a pinch-hit situation, took two pitches before blasting the ball to left field.
Junior Eric Jones was awarded National and A-10 Player of the Week honors after an outstanding week at the plate, where he went 6-for-13 with three home runs, including his first collegiate grand slam. Jones brought in 17 runs, the most in Davidson history for a single week.
