Golf Concludes Spring Opener in Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Jack Lang paced the Davidson golf team at their spring opener, finishing tied for 18th out of 90 competitors, Tuesday at the Wexford Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion.
The 54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 6,913-yard Wexford Golf Club layout.
Lang's two-day total of 221 (71-73-77) placed him better than three of the five nationally-ranked players in the field.
Freshman Alex Ross (232/T-56) led the Wildcats on the final day with a four-over 76.
Mike Blasey (232/T-56), Spencer Papciak (241/T-79) and Hoke Carlton (241/T-79) were also in Davidson's starting lineup this week.
Davidson (299-301-318) finished its first of five spring tournaments with a total of 918.
No. 38 TCU (-11) fired the day's lowest round to edge overnight leader Georgia (-10) by one shot.
The Horned Frogs' Stefano Mazzoli (-10) shot a final round 7-under 65 to take home the individual title.
This year's field included Francis Marion, Akron, Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Dartmouth, Davidson, Dayton, Georgia, Furman, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Memphis, Mercer, Presbyterian, Radford, USC Aiken, Texas Christian University, and Wofford.
