DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women's lacrosse team plays host to Winthrop for their home opener Thursday evening under the lights inside Richardson Stadium.

Davidson (1-0, 0-0 A-10) welcomes Winthrop (1-1) for its home opener Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. The Wildcats are 9-15 in home openers all-time, scoring a 14-7 win last year against Siena in its first home game.
The All-Time Series/Last Meeting...
The series is four games old vs. Winthrop, with each team picking up two wins apiece. Davidson will be looking to halt a two-game skid in the series after falling last year on the road 10-5. Prior to that defeat, the Wildcats fell 8-5 at home in 2016.
Davidson, which outshot Winthrop 25-16 a year ago, got within 6-4 in the second half, but Winthrop scored four straight goals over a 10-minute span to go up 10-4 for the win.

Goalie Rose Woolson is slowing climbing into the Wildcats' record books. She moved into seventh in saves entering the season, sitting at 280. She is also in the top-eight in minutes and her current goals against average is third all-time (10.57). Last year she set the program's single season record in groundballs with 67, while her saves total (165) was sixth best.

DAVIDSON — Six Wildcats scored multiple goals in helping lead Davidson to an 18-8 season-opening win at Furman. The Wildcats (1-0), who were playing the Paladins for the first time in program history, opened the game scoring the first four goals, and seven of the first eight overall, in rolling to its first win in a season opener since 2015.
Pacing the offense was the quartet of Christine Molinari, Jordan Wood, Sarah Kopp and Shannon Blee with three goals each. Molinari finished with a team and career-high six points, adding three assists. Shayne Antolini dished out a personal-best five assists, while Wood added an assist for a career-best four points.

WINTHROP — The Winthrop lacrosse team fell 12-10 Sunday afternoon to the Cincinnati Bearcats at Eagle Field. Winthrop falls to 1-1 on the year with the loss.
Katie Clark and Nicole Beatson led the Eagles with three goals apiece. Kristen Shriver scored once and assisted on two others while Katherine Judge added two goals of her own and led the team with six draw controls and four ground balls.
Cincinnati, which was up 5-3 at the break, again started quick in the second half, scoring 36 seconds into the period. After each side scored another goal, Winthrop scored four straight to take its first lead of the game at 8-7 with 18:06 remaining. The Bearcats then scored three unanswered to go back up 10-8. The Eagles pulled within one with just over 11 minutes on the clock but couldn't pull off another comeback.
