DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Coming off an opening series win, Davidson baseball looks to stay hot, welcoming (RV) Wake Forest to Wilson Field for a Tuesday tilt. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
Wake Forest is the first 2017 NCAA Regional team the 'Cats will face this season, and like Davidson, the Demon Deacons were Super Regional participants, falling to eventual national champion Florida in three games. Tuesday's game will mark the first two Super Regional teams have ever faced each other at Wilson Field.

SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Wake is coming off a split weekend, where the Deacs went 2-2. All but two of their players who saw action in the field recorded a hit, led by Shane Muntz' .364 clip. The freshman already has two doubles on the season and is posting a .545 slugging percentage. Preseason All-American Johnny Aiello had a sluggish start (.167), but boasted 20 homers a year ago. Wake Forest, who led the nation in 2017 in home runs, already has four long balls on the season.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Davidson is 28-99-2 all-time against the Demon Deacons. Last year, the Deacs took both contests, winning 13-5 and 12-6. Junior Eric Jones is hitting .461in his career against WF, with seven total hits in 13 at bats. He has four runs and two long balls against the Demon Deacons, both of which he hit last February in Winston-Salem.
LAST WEEK AT WILSON FIELD
Davidson took the opening series, picking up the Opening Day victory with a 4-0 shutout led by the dynamic pitching of junior duo Allen Barry and Casey Sutherland. Barry tossed five innings, allowing just one hit and fanning eight, while Sutherland threw three innings of relief, striking out four. For his performance, Barry was selected as Co-Pitcher of the Week by the conference.
The 'Cats split their Sunday doubleheader, winning Game 1 2-1 by way of extra innings. Redshirt sophomore Ward Coleman recorded the walk off single, a feat he also accomplished against the Leopards back in 2016. Davidson rallied in the finale, trailing 3-1 and came back to tie the game at 3-3 before some ninth inning mishaps gave favor to Lafayette.
Redshirt freshman Alex Mardiney had a successful debut for the 'Cats. The outfielder registered four hits, a RBI, and two stolen bases, as well as tallying 10 putouts. Fellow rookie Pete Bloomberg also impressed, working three innings of relief where he struck out four and allowed just one walk.
