
Carmack Paces Men's T&F in Day One of A-10 Indoor Champs

KINGSTON, R.I. – Davidson junior distance runner Dylan Carmack paced men's track and field in day one of the 2018 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship Saturday at Mackal Fieldhouse on the campus of Rhode Island.

Carmack placed third in the 5,000-meters, crossing the line in 14:54.05. The Wildcats, helped along by Carmack's result, sit in ninth after day one with six points. Host Rhode Island jumped out to a big lead with 62 points, while George Mason registered 34.Â

Junior Sean Caveney qualified for the 60-meter hurdles in the final spot, stopping the clock in 8.42 seconds. Freshman Daniel Alvarez will also compete in Sunday's final section of the 1k after coming home in 2:31.33, the seventh fastest time of the day. Both will return in Sunday's final sections.
The 'Cats two freshmen sprinters, Miles Hollimon and Nick Peeples, will enter the blocks in the 200-meter dash finals. Hollimon posted the third fastest preliminary time pf 22.33 seconds, while Peeples was fifth (22.47).

Hollimon and Garrett Nickelson just missed out on the finals of the 60-meter and 500-meter, respectively. Nickelson stopped the clock in 1:06.63, while Hollimon posted a preliminary time of 7.06 seconds.

Davidson is back at Mackal Fieldhouse tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 17 for the final day of the A-10 Indoor Championship.
