NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Davidson's Mason Rooney has earned multiple volleyball honors from the Atlantic 10, the conference announced Thursday morning.
The senior setter/opposite side hitter from Atlanta was named to the All-Conference Second Team as well as the league's seven-player All-Academic Team.
A psychology major and A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll member, Rooney led the nation in triple-doubles this year, totaling double-digit kills, assists and digs in five matches.
"Mason had a great senior year, and I'm excited that she was recognized by the coaches for her performance," said Davidson coach Chris Willis. "Mason carried a huge load for us all season, and this award is well-deserved."
Rooney led the Wildcats with 439 assists and 31 aces. She was second on the team with 223 kills and also chipped in with 162 digs and 41 blocks.
She was named A-10 Player of the Week for the matches held from Aug. 27 to Sept. 2 after posting two triple-doubles in three matches.
Rooney had season-highs of 17 kills (vs. George Washington Oct. 12), 30 assists (vs. Charlotte Aug. 28) and 13 digs (vs. Charleston Southern Sept. 8).
