Davidson College has added two coaches to its swimming and diving coaching staff, as announced by the program's head coach John Young.
Greg Ferrucci joins the staff as diving coach, while Sarah Holman has been added as assistant swimming coach.
"I'm thrilled to have the staff complete, and especially happy to offer our student-athletes a tremendous level of coaching support as they pursue their goals here at Davidson," said Young.
On the swimming side, Holman joins the staff after a successful tenure with the nationally prominent SwimMAC Carolina club. At SwimMAC, Holman not only coached the club's top senior group, she also oversaw all coaches, activities and training for senior swimmers in the club's north region and organized meet operations. Her athletes accomplished at a remarkable level, qualifying for Junior National Championships, National Championships, Olympic Trials, and International Competitions. For the latter, she was tabbed as a Team USA coach for the 2018 Jr. Pan Pacific Championship, held in the 2018 summer in Fiji.
Before her time working with SwimMAC, Holman spent seven years as an assistant coach at Centre College, her alma mater. She also served on the Board of Directors for North Carolina Swimming and Kentucky Swimming.
"Sarah Holman is a home run addition to the Wildcats staff," said Young. "In addition to working with some of the country's very best age-group athletes, she's been mentored by some of the country's top coaches and she's facilitated success at her every stop. Combined with her experience at Centre College, and the resulting appreciation she has for the value of a small college environment, it is hard to imagine a better or more impactful person to add to the deck at Cannon Pool. Already, she has connected with the athletes, and they are swimming fast! We are lucky to have her!"
On the diving side, nine-time NCAA All-American Greg Ferrucci takes the program's reins. A native of the area and a 4A state champion out of Hopewell High, Ferrucci returns to Davidson from Ripfest: A Cincinnati Diving Academy, where he was in charge of national team development. As a University of Kentucky Wildcat, the kinesiology major earned UK Athlete of the Year honors, UK Performance of the Year honors, and was a member of the SEC All-Academic Team. Alongside his own athletic pursuits, he's coached diving, tumbling, cheerleading, and gymnastics for more than a decade.
"As the administration and I engaged in strategic conversations about our swimming and diving program this summer, we focused on the diving side as a substantial area of opportunity for our team," shared Young. "The result is an elevated commitment to diving, and the hiring of Greg Ferrucci is the first step towards a renaissance for diving at Davidson. I am confident that his experience and approach will have our divers competing for championships quickly and can't wait to meet the athletes who are as excited about building the program as Greg is."
