NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fresh off scoring the golden goal in Davidson's 1-0 (2ot) win at Dayton, Henry Howell has been named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Howell shares this week's honor with Rhode Island's Edvin Akselsen.
A freshman from Bradenton, Fla., Howell scored in the 101st minute on a left-footed blast from about 25-yards out to give Davidson its fourth overtime victory of the season.
Howell is tied for the team lead with three goals, including a last-minute equalizer in the 'Cats 3-2 (ot) win over George Washington.
Winners of four of their last five, the Wildcats (6-4-0, 2-0-0 A-10) continue A-10 play Wednesday with a 7 p.m. contest against Saint Joseph's at Alumni Stadium.

Henry had a huge impact this week in both of our dramatic overtime wins. It's a testament to his talent and his ability to make plays at key moments. Scoring goals is always special, but especially from a freshman defender.
In recruiting Henry, we were very aware he could score – he had loads of goals a couple years ago as a team-leading scorer on his Chargers Development Academy team when he was a forward. He shifted to various positions, including defender and outside mid, in his final season as a club player but he still chipped in goals.
One of Henry's key attributes is his fitness – he ran a sub 5-minute mile as far back as 7th grade and achieved in cross country too. So at the end of games when most players tend to tire physically – and thus technically and mentally – Henry's engine hits another gear.
