DAYTON, Ohio – Led by four individual Top-20 finishes, including a runner-up by sophomore Alex Ross, Davidson wrapped up its 2018 fall campaign as champions of the Dayton Invitational Tuesday.
"I am really proud of the team," said Davidson head coach Tim Straub. "NCR is a great course that played really tough, but the team handled it very well. It's nice to win our last tournament and cap off a very good fall season."
The defending Atlantic 10 Champions concluded their four-tournament slate with a team title, second-place showing, two thirds and a stroke average of 287.72.
The Wildcats (+9), who were tied with Illinois State, one back of Dayton following 36 holes, carded a final-round even-par 284 to edge the Redbirds and tournament host by five shots.

trophy from the 2018 Dayton Invitational.Ross, the 2018 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, finished with a 54-hole total of 211 (-2) to finish one back of individual medalist Joel Durnford (-3) of Illinois State. In addition to it being Ross' lowest career finish; it was the second Top-5 showing of his brief Wildcat career.
Senior Jack Lang (+4), one of four Wildcats to shoot a final-round 71, placed tied for 14th, while teammates Hoke Carlton (+6) and Viraj Garewal (+6) tied for 18th. Freshman Clayton Tribus (+9) bounced back with an even-par round as well, to climb into a tie for 30th.
The two-day event was played on the Par 71, 7,100-yard NCR Country Club South Course layout.
