Wildcats Fall to No. 12 Hawks

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson field hockey ran into the No. 12 team in the country and the Atlantic 10's top offense all at once Tuesday afternoon and fell 4-0 at Belk Turf Field.
Playing two days after a 2-1 win over Central Michigan, the Wildcats dropped to 5-9 overall and 1-4 in league play. The Hawks are now 13-2 and out front in the A-10 standings with a 6-0 mark.
Davidson senior Bean Rodriguez started in-goal in place of the injured Sarah Zeszotarski and posted a career-high 12 saves.
"I was really proud of how she stepped up today," said Davidson coach Ginny Turner. "She played really well."
New Zealand-born freshman Tonya Botherway had a goal and two assists to lead the way for the Hawks. Johanna Huse and Sara Hayes also scored in the first half to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead at the break. Emily Henry completed the scoring in the 53rd minute.
"I thought we really progressed and played better in the second half," Turner said.

Davidson is on the road for its next two. The Wildcats visit Richmond Friday and La Salle Sunday.
