RICHMOND, VA. – The Davidson field hockey team opened a two-match road trip with a 2-0 loss at Richmond Friday afternoon.
The Wildcats fell to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the Atlantic 10, while the Spiders improved to 5-11 and 2-4.
"We were not as consistent as we have been, and Richmond took advantage," said Davidson coach Ginny Turner. "Our moments of good hockey just couldn't outweigh our mistakes today."
Richmond's Addie Nash scored in the fifth minute, and the Spiders extended their lead to 2-0 with a Steffie Bongers goal in the 24th.
Starting for the second straight game, Wildcats goalkeeper Bean Rodriguez had nine saves.
Up Next
The Wildcats remain on the road and head to Philadelphia for a noon match at La Salle Sunday.
