PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Quinn Dudek provided a 77th minute equalizer as Davidson remained unbeaten in Atlantic 10 play with a 1-1 (2OT) draw at La Salle Saturday evening inside McCarthy Stadium.
The Wildcats, who are now 4-0-1 in overtime this season, move to 7-4-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the conference, while the Explorers sit at 2-9-2 and 0-3-2.
Soji Olatoye gave La Salle the early advantage when he converted from the penalty spot 12:21 into the contest.
Davidson, which held a 12-7 advantage in shots, including a 7-4 margin on-goal, finally broke through and evened the score on Dudek's strike into the bottom right corner.
Jaylen Thompson provided the assist on the sophomore's second score of 2018.
In addition, the Wildcats finished with a commanding 10-4 margin in corner kicks.
Up Next
Davidson will wrap up its brief road swing with a 3 p.m. kick off at Massachusetts on Wednesday.
Postgame Comments from Head Coach Matt Spear
La Salle fought hard and Conference games on the road are good challenges.
The good news is that we remain unbeaten in the A-10 and in five overtime games.
Quinn, Mateo, and Charlie stepped back in to the starting line up and all had very good moments. We are especially happy for Philly native Quinn to get a great goal. Once we tied the match, the win was close to being clinched when Jamie had a shot saved by their keeper late in regulation.
Overall we handled the situation ok - only allowing 7 shots on the road is good. Sawyer was strong in the air as they thrive on long throws and direct, physical play.
The penalty kick call for their goal was just bad luck as one of our guys cleared the ball off a teammate.
But the guys kept battling so their resilience and character were rewarded with a good goal and well-earned point on the road.
It was fun to have local alumni there including my '92 teammate Ryan Northington. Plus many parents, with the added gift of yummy post game Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches!
