BOONE, N.C. – In a women's soccer battle of two former Southern Conference members, Davidson came out on the short end of a 3-2 setback on the road to Appalachian State Thursday evening at Ted Mackorell Stadium.

The Wildcats fell to 1-5 on the season, while Appalachian State earned its first win to move to 1-4-2.

Quick Hits About and From the Game:
•The matchup with the Mountaineers, who are in the Sun Belt now, was the 28th meeting overall since both teams first played in 1994.
•This was the second year in a row both teams played each other.
•Despite the defeat, Davidson still dominates the series at 19-6-3.
•The 'Cats got on the board first with an Allison Gray breakaway goal at the 32:25 mark off an assist from freshman Carmen Wagner.
•It was Gray's second goal of the season and Wagner's first collegiate point.
•The score would be tied at halftime (1-1) before Davidson again took a one-goal lead with a score in the 62nd minute off the foot of Cameron France.
•The lead was short-lived as the Mountaineers tied it up again at the 62:25 mark off a goal from Ava Dawson, her second of the game.

•She picked up the assist on Dawson's second goal of the game.
•Davidson had one last chance to force overtime, earning a corner kick with 88:28 but was unable to capitalize.
•The corner kick was one of only two all game, both earned by the Wildcats.
•Appalachian State held a 14-4 advantage in shots.
•Kendall Thomas got the start between the pipes for Davidson and picked up one save in her 90 minutes of action.

Notes From Coach Denton on the Road:
"Tough physical game for our players at App state tonight. It was very disappointing to take the lead twice on the road and not come out with a result. We played well in the first half, but did not retain possession as well in the second half. We made some errors tonight on two of the three goals we conceded. We now have to get ready for one of the toughest test on the season with a road game at NC State Sunday."

Davidson wraps up its four-game road trip with a 2 p.m. Sunday game at N.C. State.
