RALEIGH, N.C. – N.C. State scored three times in the first half and the Davidson women's soccer was never able to recover in falling 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Dail Soccer Stadium to finish out a four-game road swing.
The Wildcats fell to 1-6 on the season, while Atlantic Coast Conference foe N.C. State run its record to 6-1.
Quick Hits About and From the Game:
•The matchup with the Wolfpack was the 12th meeting overall since both teams first played in 1992.
•The four-game road trip was the longest since 2014 when Davidson played at Charlotte, North Florida, St. Bonaventure and Duquesne.
•N.C. State's Rachel Cox had two of the four goals, including one in the first half.
•Kia Rankin put the first goal in three minutes into the game and was followed four minutes later by Tziarra King making it 2-0 for the Wolfpack.
•Five different players earned an assist for N.C. State.
•Davidson got off six shots, putting three of them on goal as Carmen Wagner had two shots on target.
•Becca Ravitz played all 90 minutes between the pipes and came away with two saves.
Notes From Coach Denton on the Road:
"Against a team like N.C. State you want to try and keep things tight at the start of the game, but very early one of their forwards scored a long range effort. We were back on our heals from that and conceded another goal shortly thereafter. For the remainder of the half we battled and did very well at times, creating a couple of half chances. They had a breakdown at the end of the half that left us with an uphill battle. We came out and responded well in the second half. We a great performance and battled hard throughout the half. It was disappointing to concede the fourth goal, but we can take many positives from it. It will be good to be back home for the next two games."
Davidson returns home for the first time since Aug. 25, as it will play host to Winthrop Thursday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m.
