Sam Bissett Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sam Bissett of the Davidson men's soccer team has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.
"We are so pleased with and for Sam, who has strived to get better each season as a player, teammate and leader," said head coach Matt Spear. "He was a rock in our win versus a very talented Radford team. And Coach Jason Strange deserves credit for his four-year mentoring."
In the Wildcats' 1-0 blanking of the Highlanders over the weekend, Bissett recorded a game-high four saves en route to his first career shutout.
A senior from Cary, N.C., Bissett has faced 24 shots, allowing just one goal through the first two contests.

Davidson, which is 2-0-0 on the young season, will travel to Asheville for a 7 p.m. kickoff with UNCA tomorrow evening.
