CARY, N.C. – The Davidson men's cross country team placed fifth overall at the Adidas XC Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park Friday evening.

The Wildcats, led by senior Ramsay Ritchie, recorded 146 points, ahead of Atlantic 10 foes Richmond and VCU. Ritchie crossed the line in 26th, stopping the clock over the 6k course in 18:48.8.

Michigan claimed the team title with NC State, Wake Forest, East Carolina and Davidson rounding out the top-five squads.
"Our guys fought hard today in a challenging field. Ramsay Ritchie continues to lead the team on and off the course and ran a very solid race," said head coach Renny Waldron.

Next in for the 'Cats was junior Dylan Carmack in 35th (19:21.1) and sophomore Alex Hazan in 37th (19:24.3). Junior Will Jones and freshman Jack Ryan rounded out the Wildcat scoring.
"Today was a step in the right direction and it's obvious that we are a much better team today then we were two weeks ago. We have a few adjustments to make and a lot of hard work ahead of us. We are looking forward to racing at George Mason in a couple of weeks," said Waldron.

Davidson returns to the starting line Saturday, Sept. 30 at the Mason XC Invitational.
