KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Led by senior Andy Simmons' one-over 72 on Sunday, Davidson concluded the 2017 Irish Creek Intercollegiate, which it co-hosts with Charlotte.
The two-day/54-hole event was played on the Par 71, 7,099-yard Club at Irish Creek layout.
Jack Lang (71-72-74 = 217) paced the Wildcats individually, placing tied for 38th, while Simmons (83-72-72 = 227), carded his second straight one-over 72.
No. 42 North Florida (287-273-278 = 838/-14), which entered the final day third in the standings, posted a six-under 278 to capture the team title.
The Seminoles' Christobal Del Solar (-8) claimed the individual crown by a shot over teammate Josh Lee (-7).
In addition to the co-hosts, the 16-team field featured Akron, Appalachian State, Dartmouth, Dayton, Florida State, James Madison, Kennesaw State, North Carolina, North Florida, Ohio State, South Carolina, UNCG, VCU and Wake Forest.
A total of six teams are currently ranked in the Top-50, including the Demon Deacons, who entered eighth nationally and finished two shots off the pace.
Seven of the 93 individuals competing were ranked inside the Top-100.
Thanks to perfect scoring conditions, 24 golfers finished the annual event at par or better.
