Chris Willis Announces Brian Rosen as New Assistant Coach

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson volleyball head coach Chris Willis has announced the addition of Brian Rosen as assistant coach for the upcoming 2017 campaign.
"I'm excited to welcome Brian and his family to join ours at Davidson," Willis said. "He has a great mind for the game of volleyball that will help us immediately in the gym. He also has recruiting connections throughout the southeast that will help elevate our program in the long run. I think we hit a home run with this hire."
Rosen comes from Providence High School, where he served as the head coach for one season. He was named Coach of the Year by two different outlets, as he coached All-American Emily Konchan and the rest of the Panthers to an undefeated regular season and a SoMeck8 conference title.
Rosen has also spent the last nine years as Club Director and National Team coach at Carolina Juniors Volleyball Club, where he has led his last six consecutive teams to USAV National Championship bids. Rosen's tutelage led to three NC Gatorade Player of the Year awards, and two All-Americans.
"My family and I could not be any more excited about the opportunity to join Coach Willis, these remarkable young women, and the community here at Davidson," Rosen said. "The opportunities for our student-athletes are endless, and I look forward to helping them achieve their personal, academic, and athletic goals. I am honored to be a member of the Wildcat family."
Rosen was honored with the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award in 2013, a national award given to the top 30 coaches in the country under the age of 30 at any level. He was one of just two high school coaches to receive the plaudit.
Prior to Providence, Rosen was the program head at Charlotte Country Day for six seasons, accumulating a 169-66 record. Rosen was named Coach of the Year four times during his CCD tenure, and was a three-time nominee for National High School Coach of the Year. He led the Buccaneers to back-to-back state and conference titles. Rosen was head coach for current Wildcat Katharine Franz.
Before Charlotte Country Day, Rosen served as a volunteer coach at Winthrop University, and spent three years as the head coach of both the men's and women's club volleyball teams at the University of South Carolina. He also spent a year working community relations with the Carolina Panthers and has spent the last several years as a teacher in secondary education.
Rosen hails from Altamonte Springs, Florida and graduated cum laude from South Carolina in 2008 with a degree in sport and entertainment management.
Rosen and his wife Angelica have a three-year old daughter, Bryce.
