HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Davidson women's track and field team posted four personal best's on day one of the VertKlasse Meeting Friday at Dick Vert Stadium.
The 'Cats posted four personal best's alone in the 1500-meter run led by sophomore Caroline Yarbrough's seventh place finish. The Greensboro, N.C., native stopped the clock in 4:37.43, just over half a second faster than her previous best (4:38.01) set at the 2016 Charlotte Invitational.
Sophomore Sophia Mills posted a top-15 finish, crossing the line 13th overall with a new PR of 4:41.92, while senior Hayden Bates finished in 4:45.96. Freshman Susannah Cate ran in her first 1500m, setting the bar for herself at 4:50.97.
School record-holder Stephanie Hautamaa tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.40-meters (11'1.75), but it was Hannah Malkofsky-Berger who registered a new PR. The freshman cleared 3.10-meters (10'2) to place 11th overall.
Wildcat Carly Peters continued a breakout year for the freshman javelin thrower. The Eagleville, Pa., native was third overall with a toss 42.65-meters (139'11). Peters owns the top three spots on the program's all-time performance list in just as many meets competed in. Her throw of 45.91-meters (150'7) at the Charlotte 49er Classic snapped an 18-year-old record by over 12-meters and hit an NCAA East Preliminary mark.
Davidson returns to the start line tomorrow, Saturday, April 1 for the final day of the VertKlasse Meeting.
