Men’s Soccer Releases 2017 Spring Slate

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Highlighted by contests against Charlotte and Charlotte Independence (USL Pro), Davidson's 2017 spring slate will feature seven contests, as announced Monday by head men's soccer coach Matt Spear.
"The matches allow opportunities for the team to measure our progress, test our resolve and underline winning ways," said Spear. "We face some very good NCAA Division I teams – plus a pro squad – by design, as the game is the best teacher."
After hosting former Southern Conference rival Furman to open the spring on March 2 at Alumni Stadium, the Wildcats will take on cross-county rival Charlotte (March 18) in the Queen City. The 49ers are coming off their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Davidson will play the Charlotte Independence, a member of the USL and affiliate of the Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer, on March 26.
On April 1, the Wildcats will travel to Rock Hill, S.C. to square off with UNC Wilmington and Georgia State with a pair of 70-minute contests.
Davidson plays at former league rival UNC Greensboro April 8, before the 'Cats conclude the slate with their annual Alumni Game on April 22.
"Our staff loves the spring semester as it allows more time to get to know and harness each player. And it's a key opportunity for leadership development – that's especially vital for the juniors so they can best impact the program in their final year."
