CHARLOTTESVILLE,Va. – The Davidson women's cross country team returns to Panorama Farms Friday for the 2017 NCAA Southeast Regional Championship.
ATLANTIC 10 RECAP
Davidson placed four on the All-Conference team as the Wildcats took third at the 2017 A-10 Championship on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Oatlands Plantation. Senior Sarah Sears paced the 'Cats with a second place finish, while junior Caroline Yarbrough (10th), senior Laurel Sheffield (12th) and sophomore Maddie Hunter (15th) all performed well enough to earn All-Conference accolades. Sophomore Susannah Cate rounded out the scoring with a 28th overall finish to seal the best league finish for Davidson since 2007 as a member of the Southern Conference.
REGIONAL RANKS
The Wildcats head to the regional ranked 14th in the Southeast. Davidson has been ranked regionally since the week two poll following their impressive showing at the Adidas XC Challenge. The 'Cats placed third overall, beating out ranked opponents Wake Forest and Elon, to slide into the polls.
COACHES COMMENTS - JEN STRAUB
"Our goal for last year was to have everyone improve their time from the year before and collectively they did so, so our collective team time improved quite a bit over the year, so this year we're going to use that type of philosophy. We're going to take what we learned about last year and this season and our goal is to be a better team at this years regional"
2016 REGIONAL
The Wildcats placed 18th at the 2016 NCAA Regional at Panorama Farms. Laurel Sheffield paced the squad with an 83rd place finish, stopping the 6k clock at 22:14.2. Cate, Yarbrough, Hunter and Hayden Bates '17 rounded out the scoring.
