PHILADEPHIA, Pa. – Kristin Haugstad recorded a game-high seven points in leading La Salle on their home field McCarthy Stadium to a 6-0 win over Davidson Thursday evening in Atlantic 10 women's soccer action.
The Wildcats dropped to 2-12 overall (0-5 A-10) on the season, while the Explorers won their fifth straight to improve to 10-3-1 overall and 5-0 in A-10 play.
Quick Hits About and From the Game:
•This was just the third meeting for Davidson and La Salle, as the series started in 2015.
•Both teams have now played each other three times since the Wildcats joined the Atlantic 10 in 2014, with both teams playing to a scoreless draw last year at Alumni Stadium.
•La Salle holds a 2-0-1 lead in the series.
•Haugstad scored a pair of goals and assisted on three of the six goals on the night, as La Salle tied a program record for assists with nine overall as a team.
•Madison Bower tied Haugstad with two of her own goals.
•In all, six La Salle players tallied at least one point apiece.
•Davidson was held to three shots, two of them by Sabine Chandler and the other coming from Mia Hodges.
•Keeper Becca Ravitz was credited with five saves for the 'Cats out of the 22 shots the Explorers took.
Notes From Coach Denton on the Road:
"We started on our back foot tonight and were forced to play catch up from there. La Salle is very direct and we did not compete well enough early in the game. The red card against us for the handball came after 20 minutes and that meant playing for the remaining 70 was going to be very tough. La Salle pressed more numbers forward due to the numerical advantage and continued to be very direct, putting us under pressure. We battled, but lost some discipline due to fatigue and were punished. We have to learn from this and do better than tonight in the remaining games."
Davidson comes home to take on Duquesne this Sunday in another A-10 matchup at 2 p.m.
