RICHMOND, Va. -- Davidson field hockey dropped its Friday contest on the road, falling 4-2 to Atlantic 10 foe VCU. The 'Cats stand at 0-13 on the year and 0-6 in league play, while the Rams move to 10-4, 3-2.
Seniors Lauren Gampper and Hannah Fisher each scored during the contest, assisted by classmate Anna Brewer and junior Courtney Byler.
The Rams wasted little time getting on the board, scoring within the first six minutes of action off a corner. Fisher netted the equalizer about 15 minutes later, also scoring off a corner. VCU took the lead once again and added another score, ending the period with a 3-1 lead.
The second half opened with the Rams putting more cushion on the scoreboard, and despite Gampper's goal from a Brewer assist on the corner, the 'Cats were unable to get closer.
Davidson returns to action Monday at Belk Turf Field, welcoming Miami (Ohio) for a 5:30 p.m. showdown.
