HARRISON, N.Y. — Junior David Hager remained perfect on the season in singles action and Davidson opened Atlantic 10 play with an impressive 7-0 road win at Fordham Saturday night at the Life Time Athletic complex.

Davidson ran its record to 3-1 overall, while Fordham was playing its first Spring event to fall to 0-1. This was the second time in the past three seasons the Wildcats opened league play against the Rams, having now won both meetings.

The match started out with the Wildcats claiming the doubles point, cruising to 6-2 and 6-1 wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The top team of Axel Fries and J.B. Gough along with Shamael Chaudhry and Jack Riazzi each ran their records to 3-1 on the season.

Hager led the way in singles play, moving to 4-0 on the season at No. 4 with a strong 6-1, 6-1 victory.

Scoring their third wins of the season was Fries (7-6, 6-1) and Hart (4-6, 6-2, 1-0) at No. 5 and 6 positions, respectively.

Gough and Khrapko won their second apiece. The senior Gough took a 7-5, 6-2 decision at No. 4 singles, while the junior Khrapko rolled in a 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 3.

Picking up the final team point was the No. 1 position was Chaudhry, who evened his record to 2-2 after earning a 6-2, 6-2 straight set win.

Davidson wraps up its trip to the Northeast with a visit to Fairfield, Conn. to face Fairfield Sunday at 2 p.m.
