Freshman Sets School Record in Opening Meet for Women's Track and Field

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wildcats returned to the track for the first time since winter break at the Wake Forest Invite Saturday at the JDL Fast Track and were led by rookie Jada Woods in the jumping events and a pair of distance runners on the track.
Woods set a new school record in the triple jump after she took third in the event overall, setting a new program-best at 11.45m on her fourth of five attempts. Woods also took second in the long jump (5.30m) to cap off a successful day in the sand pit.
Junior Sarah Sears set a new personal best in the 800m run, clocking in at 2:14.15 and taking second overall. Sophomore Caroline Yarbrough mirrored her running mate, collecting a new PR and a second-place finish in the mile (5:01.50).
The quartet in the 4x4 relay rounded out the Top Three finishes, as the team took third with a time of 4:01.78.
Davidson returns to the track Sunday, Jan. 29 at the UNCG Duals at JDL Fast Track.
