DAVIDSON, N.C. — Davidson wraps up its stretch of playing five of its first seven games to start the year at home this Friday when it hosts Marist at Alumni Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup on the pitch in women's soccer.
The Matchup
Davidson (3-3, 0-0 A-10) plays host to Marist Friday under the lights. The Wildcats are 2-2 at home to start the year and currently riding a two-game win streak.
The All-Time Series/Last Meetings
This will be the first meeting between both schools in women's soccer.
Weekly Awards
Seeley Yoo: Yoo Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week- After registering a career game in the win vs. ETSU, freshman Seeley Yoo earned the women's soccer Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for games played, Aug. 29-Sept. 4. The midfielder earned Davidson's first-ever A-10 player of the week honor since joining the league for the 2014-15 season. It also marks the first time since 2011 that a Wildcat has been honored with a player of the week award when Becca Fisher was named the SoCon Player of the Week, Oct. 18.
Scouting the Wildcats
Davidson finished a 1-1 record last week to keep their overall record even at 3-3 on the season ... it scored a nice 4-3 win at home vs. ETSU last Thursday before falling on the road to Furman, 2-0 ... freshman Seeley Yoo recorded her first collegiate hat trick in just her fifth career game to lead the 'Cats to the win over ETSU ... she was named this week's Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after her stellar game Thursday ... joining their classmate Yoo with points in the win were Sabine Chandler (assist), Virginia Jesselson (assist) and Allison Gray (goal) ... senior Maggie Boyd is second on the team with two goals ... she has a team-best 11 shots, with nine of them on frame ... four other Wildcats have scored a goal each ... Davidson is wrapping up playing five of its first seven games at home Friday ... goalkeeper Becca Ravitz earned the win Thursday vs. ETSU and is 2-0 on the season ... she has 12 saves, second to Alex Carpenter's 19 ... Carpenter has a 1.15 goals against average, ranking in top-10 in the A-10 ... head coach Greg Ashton is three wins away from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach ... the 'Cats return 21 letterwinners, including eight starters ... they welcome 10 newcomers to this year's team ... Davidson was picked to finish 13th in their third year in the A-10.
Scouting the Red Foxes
Marist is 2-2 through its first four games ... its recent result was a 2-1 win at home vs. Albany last Sunday ... Keri Bradley and Ashlee Burke each scored a goal and Alexa Svensson tallied a pair of assists ... the Red Foxes two defeats this year have come on the road to Dartmouth (1-0 2OT) and Lehigh (3-0) ... Camille Bowen has team bests of three goals and 12 shots ... the Red Foxes average just over 12 shots a game ... Marist went 7-11-2 a year ago and finished with a 6-3-1 record in the MAAC ... it was picked to finish fifth this year in the league ... Hope Quinonez was the lone selection on the preseason team after earning second-team All-MAAC last year ... head coach Katherine Lyn is in her sixth year.
