DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson returns to Alumni Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. kick-off Friday evening against in-state foe UNC Asheville.
"We have had a very good week of training, as our team and coaches are poised for Friday's opportunity," said head coach Matt Spear.
Looking for their first win of the 2016 campaign, the Wildcats enter 0-3-0 on the young season following a 2-0 setback at then-No. 20 Radford over the weekend.
"Our focus remains on maintaining a constructive attitude, reinforcing a growth mindset and improving our fitness and form and productivity from day-to-day and game-to-game. Playing at home on a Friday night as a doubleheader with our women's team will be a great stage to demonstrate our progress."
Like Davidson, UNCA (0-4-0) is still in search of its first victory as the Bulldogs open the year with five straight on the road.
Senior tri-captain Maxi Pragnell leads the 'Cats with eight shot attempts, including five on goal for a .625 SOG%.
The two teams have met seven times with the Wildcats leading the all-time series 5-2-0, including a 2-0 victory in their last meeting on Sept. 11, 2009.
As a team, Davidson is averaging almost 10 corner kicks per contest, while allowing just 3.67.
Up Next
Davidson will travel to the Pacific Northwest for a pair of contests next weekend. The Wildcats and Washington will square off Friday, September 16 before concluding the 3,000-mile trip at nationally-ranked Seattle next Sunday afternoon.
