NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Davidson freshman Maddie Hunter was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week, announced by the league Tuesday.
Hunter, a Charlottesville, Va., native made a stellar collegiate debut over the weekend at the Charlotte Preview Meet, crossing the line in fifth overall and completing the 5k course in 18:28.6.
The 'Cats faced the poor course conditions head on, placing second overall as a team in the 2016 opener.
Hunter and the rest of her Wildcat teammates return to the start line Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Commodore Classic hosted by Vanderbilt University.
