RICHMOND, Va. – Playing its Atlantic 10 opener on the road, Davidson was unable to hold its early lead and fell to VCU 2-1 Thursday evening at Sports Backers Stadium in women's soccer.

Davidson dropped its fourth road decision in a row, falling to 4-6 (0-1 A-10) on the season. VCU moved to 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.

Quick Hits About and From the Game:
• This was the third meeting between both school's women's soccer programs, as they first met in Davidson's inaugural season in the Atlantic 10 (2014).
• Davidson fell to 0-3 in all-time series.
• Head coach Greg Ashton remained two wins from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach. He entered the day with 116 victories during his 12 years at Davidson.
• After a scoreless first half, Perry Zollicoffer put the Wildcats up 1-0 with her first career goal at the 52:20 mark in the second half. She scored it off a corner kick.
• The lead was short-lived as the Rams came back to tie things up in the 58th minute off a goal from Julia Suarez, her fifth of the year.
• The game-winner came a few minutes later at the 63:18 mark when Suarez assisted on a Megan Dell's goal for a 2-1 VCU lead. Dell's score came from 25 yards out with a shot to the top corner.
• Davidson mustered just two shots by Ashley Finke and Alexis Pheng the rest of the game. Finke finished with a team-high three shots, putting two of them on goal.
• Sophomore Alex Carpenter earned the start between the pipes, finishing with three saves to give her 41 on the year.
• The Rams had advantages of 16-7 and 3-2, respectively, in shots and corner kicks.
• This was Davidson's first game after a 14-day break. It last played at Elon, Sept. 15.
• Davidson fell to 15-7-1 all-time in league openers (10-6 on the road, 5-1-1 at home) after dropping tonight's game.
• This was the fourth straight season the 'Cats opened on the road for its conference opener.

The Wildcats return home for their next A-10 game, hosting La Salle Sunday at 2 p.m.
