RICHMOND, Va. – Playing its Atlantic 10 opener on the road, Davidson was unable to hold its early lead and fell to VCU 2-1 Thursday evening at Sports Backers Stadium in women's soccer.
Davidson dropped its fourth road decision in a row, falling to 4-6 (0-1 A-10) on the season. VCU moved to 5-4-1 overall and 1-0 in league play.

• This was the third meeting between both school's women's soccer programs, as they first met in Davidson's inaugural season in the Atlantic 10 (2014).
• Davidson fell to 0-3 in all-time series.
• Head coach Greg Ashton remained two wins from becoming the program's all-time winningest coach. He entered the day with 116 victories during his 12 years at Davidson.
