DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson will conclude its brief homestand with a 7 p.m. kickoff against in-state foe and nationally-ranked Wake Forest, Tuesday evening at Alumni Stadium.
Despite Jon Creel's first collegiate goal, the Wildcats dropped their last outing, a 2-1 setback to Appalachian State and enter 1-6-0 overall.
Maxi Pragnell continues to lead Davidson offensively with three goals and an assist for seven total points. Fellow tri-captain Christian Fechter is second on the club with a pair of strikes.
The Demon Deacons come into the 34th all-time meeting ranked as high as 10th in the latest polls.
Sitting at 7-1-1 on the season, Wake has only surrendered two goals through its first nine contests. The Demon Deacons' 0.22 goals-against-average is second nationally behind West Virginia.
Ema Twumasi, Jacori Hayes, Jon Bakero and Tane Gent pace the Wake Forest offense with two scores each. Twumasi and three others have recorded two assists apiece.
Comments from Head Coach Matt Spear
Hosting a ranked ACC opponent is an exciting opportunity. And as a Winston-Salem native that grew up as a part of the Wake Forest campus it means a lot to me as well.
At the same time, our focus is really on our growth and preparation for A-10 Conference play, that starts this weekend. So the key in the Wake game is to go for the win, but also improve, and be better when October kicks in.
I am sure Wake sees the match in a similar manner, as they are in the thick of ACC conference play. As usual, Wake is a talented, ambitious team. Our intensity, focus, decision-making, and unity will all need to be at a premium to earn a positive result.
