SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Andres Suri scored a goal and assisted another to lead Wofford to a 2-0 victory over Davidson in non-conference men's soccer action Monday evening at Snyder Field.
The Terriers, who enter 2-21-1 all-time against their former league rival, improve to 2-0-0, while the 'Cats fall to 0-2-0.
Midway through the opening period Kyle Nelson's header gave Wofford a 1-0 lead. The eventual game-winner came off a cross from Suri after Davidson was unable to clear a corner.
Suri extended the Terriers' margin in the 64th minute with a perfectly struck free kick from the top of the 18-yard box.
Senior Maxi Pragnell paced Davidson with a pair of shots on goal, including a first-half free kick that was saved well by the Terriers' goalkeeper.
One of the Wildcats' better scoring chances came with less than 10 minutes to play when freshman Ned Morrissett's free kick was headed by Danny Davis off the right post.
Wofford held a 14-8 edge in shots, while for the second consecutive outing the Wildcats finished with a commanding advantage in corner kicks, 12-6.
Davidson's Andrew Kenneson led bother keepers with five saves.

Davidson will conclude its brief road swing with a 7 p.m. kick-off at Radford Saturday evening.
Coach Spear's Postgame Comments
"I have a long, respected friendship with Coach Ralph Polson and as always his team was organized and driven. They took their chances really well. On their first goal, we needed to be better on clearing the initial corner kick and not missing the mark on the second cross. On the second goal, we had an unforced giveaway that led to a breakaway, that Tanner chased down for the sliding tackle that was deemed a foul. The ensuing free kick was hit perfect up and over our wall."
"Off the bench, Malcolm McCabe was very good at left back, Danny Davis was very close to breaking through up top and Ned Morrissett is composed and talented in the middle."
"We showed the right urgency late on, but we of course need to translate that to the full game to get ahead first."
"The corner kick margin the first two games demonstrate that we are getting forward. But we must be more clinical in the attacking third, while sharpening up in the back."
"I look forward to our next few days of preparation before we head out again, to face a talented Radford squad. We are very motivated and grasp it's a work in progress as we grow through each match."
