-- Davidson will kick-off its 2016 men's soccer season Friday evening when in-state foe Gardner-Webb visits Alumni Stadium and 1992 Team Field for a 7 p.m. contest.
-- The Wildcats, who have not dropped their first game of the season since 1998, are 34-20-6 all-time in openers. A year ago, Davidson trailed Campbell 1-0 at the break before rallying for a 2-1 win.
-- The Wildcats are 11-0-4 in season openers under head coach Matt Spear '93, who is in his 16th year at the helm.
-- Entering its third season in the Atlantic 10, Davidson was predicted to finish ninth in the preseason poll, as voted on by the league head coaches.
