'CATS CLINCH NO. 6 SEED
• Davidson (11-11) and George Washington (12-12) finished tied with a .500 record in Atlantic 10 play. The Wildcats earned the six seed after the conference tie-breaking procedure. The two teams played in the regular season and Davidson won the series, 2-1, against the Colonials on April 8-10 at Wilson Field.
THE WILDCATS
• The Wildcats enter their second A-10 Championship with an overall record of 25-24 and 11-11 in the conference.
• This past weekend was crucial for Davidson as it defeated the No. 2-seed VCU Rams, 11-5, in a series that featured just one game due to rain. In addition to Clark Beeker's career-high 10 strikeouts in eight innings, Will Robertson led the Wildcats with a perfect 4-for-4 outing for the first four-hit game of his career.
• First baseman Brian Fortier leads the team with a .332 batting average with 31 runs, 62 hits and 24 RBI in 187 at bats. Two other Wildcats are batting over .300 as the team sits at .279 on the season.
• On the mound, Clark Beeker leads the team with a 1.94 ERA in 106.2 innings pitched. The Lexington, N.C., native has recorded 70 strikeouts, six complete games and two shutouts on the year. His six complete games rank sixth in the nation, while is 106.2 innings pitched lead the A-10.
THE HAWKS
• The Hawks enter the tournament with an overall record of 29-21 and 15-9 in the conference. Saint Joseph's finished tied with Saint Louis in the league and won the tie breaker via head-to-head decision. The Hawks won the regular-season series, 2-1, back in April.
• Catcher Deon Stafford, Jr., leads the team with a .388 batting average, 52 runs, 76 hits, including a conference-best 17 homeruns, and 43 RBI in 196 at bats. No other Hawks are batting over .300 as the team is batting .270 overall.
• On the mound, Tim Brennan leads the team with a 2.52 ERA in 82.0 innings pitched. Brennan has allowed 23 earned runs off 68 hits with 69 strikeouts.
