
Beeker, Foy Highlight A-10 Honors with First Team Selections

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Seniors Clark Beeker and Sam Foy have been named to the 2016 All-Atlantic 10 First Team, while Beeker joined Durin O'Linger of the All-Academic squad, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.
Beeker, a political science major, finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and a 1.94 ERA, including a 1.73 in conference play. The Lexington, N.C., native allowed just 23 earned runs in a conference-best 106.2 innings pitched, while ranking sixth in the nation with six complete games. Beeker also recorded 70 strikeouts and two shutouts as he recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts in the season finale against VCU that helped Davidson clinch a No. 6 seed in the conference tournament.
Foy heads into the A-10 Championship with a .326 batting average in conference play. Overall the Wilmington, N.C., native has tallied 55 hits, including a team-best eight doubles and four home runs, with 34 RBI. The economics major leads the team with 18 multi-hit games and holds the team's largest hitting streak with 13 games, along with the highest reached base streak with 18 games.
A biology major, O'Linger finished the regular season with a 3.07 ERA, including a 2.47 in league play, with allowing just 26 earned runs in 76.1 innings pitched for a 6-4 record. The Tampa, Fla., native threw his first complete game shutout against Saint Louis and was named A-10 Pitcher of the Week, May 2, for the accomplishment.
The Wildcats will face No. 3-seeded Saint Joseph's in the Atlantic 10 Championship opener Wednesday, May 25, at 10 a.m.
