'Cats Set for A-10 Tournament, Play Thursday as No. 3 Seed

DAVIDSON, N.C. — After an outstanding regular season, the Davidson women's tennis team looks to carry that over into the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Championship starting Thursday, April 21, in Mason, Ohio, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
The Wildcats, who went 15-4 during the regular season and a perfect 6-0 in league matches, earned the third overall seed out of 14 teams. They will be seeking the program's first-ever tournament title after just missing out several times in the Southern Conference.
The 'Cats earned their six league wins against George Mason, George Washington, Richmond, Saint Joseph's, Duquesne and Dayton.
Davidson will open tournament play vs. 14th-seeded La Salle (0-10) on Thursday, with match time set for 12 p.m. If the Wildcats advance, they would take on the winner of sixth-seeded Duquesne (15-5) and 11th-seeded Saint Joseph's (8-13), Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the quarterfinals.

The All-Time Series/Last Meeting
This will be Davidson's first matchup against La Salle, while it would be its fourth meeting against the Duquesne Dukes or the third meeting vs. the Hawks of Saint Joseph's should the 'Cats advance. Earlier this year, the Wildcats pick up a pair of 4-0 wins against the Dukes and the Hawks to remain perfect combined in the all-time series vs. both teams at 5-0.
A-10 Tournament History
The Wildcats are making their second appearance in the A-10 Tournament after going 1-1 last year in their first go-around at the tournament. They collected their first-ever tournament win with a 4-1 first-round decision over St. Bonaventure. The 'Cats tournament run ended in their next match, dropping a 4-2 decision to Fordham in the next round.
During their run in the SoCon, which started in 1993, the 'Cats had a 17-16 tournament record. In three of the last 10 league tournaments, they reached the finals, falling to Furman each time.
VCU, which earned the No. 1 seed for the fourth consecutive year, has won the tournament the past three straight seasons, while Richmond has collected eight titles dating back to 2004.
Scouting the Wildcat Women- Quick Hits
• Davidson finished with a 3-2 record in its last five regular season matches, getting wins vs. Dayton (5-1), Towson (7-0) and Appalachian State (4-3).
• The Wildcats won 11 straight matches at one time during the season, the longest winning streak since a 12-match streak during 2005.
• The roster consists of just one senior as three sophomore and two freshmen see regular playing time in the rotation.
• Davidson's 15 wins on the season is the most since a 15-win campaign in 2010.
• Eight of those victories came at home, while the Wildcats went 5-3 on the road and 2-0 in neutral site matches.
• This is head coach Sara Anundsen's second year guiding the women's tennis program.
• The 'Cats as a team earned an outstanding 66 singles wins during the regular season, going 66-35 overall and 22-7 in A-10 matches.
• All but the No. 6 singles position collected over 10 wins each, with the No. 2 slot earning 13 victories apiece.
• The sophomore duo of Anna Catharine Feaster and Ava Todd went a combined 24-11 in singles play.
• Todd (13-5) led the team in wins, giving her 32 victories in just two seasons (32-8). She ran off a season-high six-match win streak.
• The freshmen tandem of Gabrielle Centenari (11-5) and Megan Scholvinck (10-5) had outstanding first seasons, combining to go 21-10 on the year.
• Centenari and Todd both went 5-0 in A-10 matches this year.
• Five Wildcats in all registered 10 or more wins on the season.
• Jenna Brunner won a personal-best six singles matches in a row, going 6-2 on the season.
• Davidson was good in doubles this year as well, collecting 30 doubles wins throughout the regular season.
• The Wildcats' No. 1 doubles team of Feaster and Sexton are a team-best 13-3 and closed out the regular season going 8-2 in their last 10 matches.
• The duo ran off a career-best 11-match win streak, which was the longest dating back to 2003.
