DAVIDSON, N.C.
Annie Brockett scored three goals, including the eventual game-winner, to lead the Davidson lacrosse team to a 6-5 victory against Atlantic 10 rival Richmond at Richardson Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Goalie Rose Woolson stopped 13 shots for Davidson, which improves to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the A-10. Brockett finished the day with a hat trick, while Morgan Burch, Emma Sissman and Sophia Sgroi each scored goals for the 'Cats.

Richmond (5-8, 1-5 A-10) was led by Kim Egizi, who netted two goals.

Back and forth action dominated the opening minutes of the game, as both teams struggled to get things going offensively.

Davidson got on the board as Morgan Burch found the back of the net at the 17:11 mark. After Richmond went up, 2-1, Sissman knotted the game off a free position shot at the 12:45 mark.

Richmond answered with a goal at 9:41, before Sgroi and Brockett registered consecutive goals to give the Wildcats a 4-3 lead with 4:30 remaining in the half. It looked like the 'Cats would head into the half with a one-goal advantage, but the Spiders found the back of the net with nine ticks left to make it 4-4 at intermission.

Brockett notched her second goal of the game off a free position shot just 1:36 into the second half. Eight minutes later, Brockett fired an assisted shot into the back of the net as the Wildcats extended its lead to 6-4 with 20:43 to go in the game.

The score would remain the same until the seven minute mark of the second half when Richmond's Brooke Wilson found the back of the net to cut the deficit to one, 6-5, but it wasn't enough as the 'Cats held on for the win.

Prior to the start of the game, Davidson honored its six graduating seniors - Maddy Sivilli, Lucy Sexton, Emma SissmanVeronica Fiorino, Holly Thomas and Jean Atkinson - for their contributions to the program over the past four years.

The Wildcats return to action next weekend with trips to Atlantic 10 rivals Duquesne and St. Bonaventure April 22-24.
