Sargent Continues Solid Play at Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. – Highlighted by an even-par 71 in the afternoon, senior David Sargent sits tied for 16th out of 93 competitors to pace Davidson following day one of the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate hosted by NC State.
After carding a two-over 73 in the opening round, Sargent's second 18 featured an eagle and four birdies.
The two-day 54-hole event is being played on the Par 71, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole layout. Sunday's final round will tee off Holes 1 & 10 beginning at 8 a.m.
In addition to the host Wolfpack, the 16-team field features Chattanooga, Columbia, Davidson, ETSU, Elon, Francis Marion, George Mason, Loyola-Maryland, Manhattan, Middle Tennessee State, Penn, Richmond, South Florida, VCU and Virginia.
NC State (-24) fired consecutive sub-par rounds and holds the top spot on the team leaderboard by nine strokes over South Florida (-15).
Three of the Wolfpack's five competitors are in the Top-3, including David Cooke (62-67 = 129/-13), who opened with a nine-under 62 and leads by six over Adrian Meronk (-7) of East Tennessee State.
