NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second week in a row, sophomore Anna Catharine Feaster was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from March 22-28, as announced by the league office.
Feaster earned her fifth career weekly award, with two coming this year, while helping Davidson earn its fourth weekly honor of the season.
The sophomore helped the Wildcats stay red hot by going a combined 2-0 in singles and doubles during a convincing 5-1 A-10 victory last Friday at home vs. Dayton. The win gave the 'Cats a perfect 6-0 league mark and was their 10 in a row overall, which is the longest streak since the 2005 team ran off 12 straight wins.
Feaster continued her own personal winning streaks as well in singles and doubles. The Knoxville, Tenn., native teamed with Ally Sexton at No. 1 doubles, running their win streak to 10 consecutive matches with a 6-0 win. The duo is 11-1 on the year (28-6 the past two years overall) and finished 6-0 in A-10 matches. The win streak matches Kelsey Linville and Maggie Patterson's stretch they had in 2005 and is the longest dating back to 1995.
Capping the match off, Feaster then recorded a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles for her third straight victory and moved to 9-5 on the year with a 3-2 record in A-10 matches. The win was her 25th overall in her two-year career.
Davidson (13-2, 6-0 A-10) will finish out the season on a five-match road trip, starting first with matches against Towson and James Madison in Harrisonburg, Va., April 2 & 3.
