
Davidson Lands Three on A-10 Academic All-Conference Teams

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Three Wildcats of the Davidson swimming and diving programs have been named to the 2016 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference teams, the league announced Friday afternoon.
Riley League and Colin MacKay were placed on the men's squad, while two-time A-10 Most Outstanding Performer Elise Lankiewicz was placed on the women's squad.
League, finished his sophomore season with top-five performances at the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championships. The Rock Hill, S.C., native took fourth in the 200 butterfly and fifth in the 200 IM, along with helping the 800 freestyle relay squad to fifth-place finish. The Wildcats finished seventh as a team.
MacKay was a crucial relay performer for Davidson at this year's championship. The Vero Beach, Fla., native helped the Wildcats place fifth in the 200 medley relay and third in the 200 freestyle relay, while taking home a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay. The 200 freestyle relay set a school record of 3:16.36.
Lankiewicz helped the Davidson women to their best finish since joining the conference in 2014 as the Wildcats placed third overall. The Wilmington, Del., native went undefeated in three individual events, winning the 200 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle events, while helping four relay squads to gold medals. Lankiewicz set four A-10 records and four school records to be named the Most Outstanding Performer for the second-straight year.
The academic all-conference teams are comprised of student-athletes that were selected based on their performance in the pool, as well as in the classroom. To be nominated, swimmers and divers must have a GPA of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career.
